Was formed at Huddersfield in January 1943. It moved to N Ireland Later and there worked up for its role in support of 2 (Light Bomber) Group, RAF. The first elements moved to Normandy in August and spent much of the rest of the war in Brussels. In September 1945 the unit moved to Gutersloh and the unit absorbed, as they disbanded, elements of and commitments from, 16, 14 and 12 AFS. On paper the unit disbanded on 22nd March 1948, but in fact it merged with 11 AFS at that time.
